Note:
ฉัน or ผม
ฉัน is commonly used by female speaker.
ผม is used by male speaker only.
For male speaker, ผม is more suitable to use in most cases and it sounds more polite. It shows more respect to people you're talking to. If you visit Thailand and want to speak with Thai people in general, you should use ผม. However, Thai boys/men use ฉัน when they talk to their closed friends, younger friends or someone that they don't need to show much respect.
คุณ or เธอ
คุณ is more polite and show more respect to people you are talking to. If you are talking to Thai people in general, คุณ is recommended to use.
เธอ also means she/her. Even เธอ is used to talk to people you are less respect but Thai boys/men don't call their male friends เธอ. They use other words such as นาย, แก and มึง.
In Thai language, there are many more words to use as pronoun. Pronoun can be a very complicated subject if you want to speak like a Thai as there are many words that have more than one meaning. We can talk about this later.
